To start with, God I love the 30's. And the beginning of the movie was so neat and fun whilst still being tinged with desperation. Naomi is beautiful and she fit the role so well. Actually, I thought all the actors were pretty much spot on. Jack Black was awesome (and a total megalomaniac) and I absolutely adore Adrien Brody.
It was quite a slowly moving build up, but I was so into the plot and the romance that it didn't matter at all. The humor was very dark, as one can expect from PJ, but it was good. The score was great too.
As for Skull Island, it was terrifying. I swear I'm going to have nightmares about the creepy creepy natives. I actually physically jumped in my seat on more than one occasion. Best moment: When Carl is filming the dinosaurs and says "I need you to get into the shot or else people will think they're fake!" Ahhhh the irony. And the bugs! Ewwwwww giant bugs! And absolutely disgusting revolting slimy pink swamp things. They were the worst! Also, Jimmy and Mr Hensley? So totally boyfriends.
The best part about it was that it was terribly sad as well. You really do feel for Kong. Although everyone here has been crapping on about how he has Andy Serkis's eyes and it's so amazing...I don't know about that. They just looked like monkey eyes to me.
Anyway, I utterly enjoyed it. Far more than GOF.
And now for some pic spam XD
